Externalities in the classroom: How Children exposed to domestic violence affect everyone's kids
Since i'm interested in domestic violence, economics and statistics, this study was really interesting to me. Read a summary of it on the Freakanomics blog here.
SADLY... I see the effects of these students all too often. Not only does it affect the mood of my classroom, but it also can DRASTICALLY affect my teaching. If I'm trying to help ONE student focus/calm down/learn, it can affect those are students that need help or are borderline with understanding the material. Interesting article. Thanks for sharing!
Wow...no matter how much I try to be ignorant about all the garbage kids have to go through (it's a survival skill at this point, I have to lie to myself in order to let my kids leave in the morning) I'm constantly reminded. The research was conducted in my little sweetie's school district. Yikes.
